Lichfield City FC hit eight against Nuneaton Griff to continue setting the pace at the top of the table

Lichfield City FC consolidated their place at the top of the table with a clinical eight goal demolition of Nuneaton Griff.

Jamie Hawkins’ men are setting the pace in the Midland Football League Division One after recording their seventh win in nine games.

It took them just over half-an-hour to unlock the Griff defence with Harry Harris netting the first of what would turn out to be a profitable afternoon.

Harris went close to a second minutes later before Brad Lindsey did manage to double his side’s advantage.

Half-time couldn’t come quick enough for Nuneaton, but they were to be hit with goals from Max Black and a second for Harris as City capped a clinical ten minute spell.

The second half saw no relief for the strugglers as Lichfield continued to turn the screw as Joe Hartshorne netted seven minutes after the restart.

Harris completed his hat-trick before another for Black and a Dan Shepherd strike wrapped up a resounding victory.
