While no-one can guarantee we’ll have a white Christmas, there’s one place that you can be certain of playing in real snow this festive season – and that’s at Tamworth Snowdome’s Winter Wonderland. Back for its 14th consecutive year, this annual treat is better than ever. As well as extra tubing slopes for little ones in the snow trail area, the Santa show is one of the best I’ve seen take to the stage here – and I have been going, on and off, for over a decade. A great way to kickstart your Christmas family celebrations, after a warm-up show in the icy-themed waiting area, you’ll have 30 minutes play time in the snow trail area, under huge candy canes, with festive lights and music to accompany you. Here you can hop on a sledge tube down a large slope for older children and grown-ups (as I did!), or tube down a choice of little slopes for younger ones – there are ample sledges and tubes available. You can also play a host of festive instruments, pretend you’re on the piste with a photo op ski-lift and jet-ski, and, of course, throw around a few snowballs! Thirty minutes soon flies though, so don’t hang about, enjoy that snow before you enter the Santa Show where you’ll meet a host of classic children’s storybook characters from Captain Hook, Fairy Godmother, Sugar Plum Fairy, Snow White and Scrooge to Rudolph and a hip-hop mouse. And there’s not only audience participation (singing, shouting and dancing), alongside lots of typical panto lines but watch out for the water guns too! To round off the Winter Wonderland experience, you can spend as long as you wish in the last area which is the animal village which features a host of creatures from reindeer to baby chicks. You can also peak into Santa’s front room here as well as write and post your letters to Santa too. Allow 90 minutes for the experience, which includes a chocolate treat for all guests. This is a wonderful safe, fun, festive experience to kick off the Christmas countdown.
