Chasetown FC see off Droylsden to claim first home win of the season

Chasetown FC ended a dismal run with their first home league win of the season as they completed the double over Droylsden.

The hosts took the lead with after 15 minutes. A superb move saw Niall Flint cross for Jack Partridge who headed into the path of Tom Hill. He cushioned the ball to Will Whieldon who fired beyond a flat-footed Chris Thompson who could only watch as it flew into the top corner.

Dan Vann headed a corner over the bar as the Scholars tried to double their advantage.

Droylsden had lots of good possession but were unable to force keeper Curtis Pond into any danger in the opening half.

The visitors had the lion’s share of the second half ball too but skied efforts well over from long range.

At the start of second half stoppage time a Phil Marsh header for the Bloods was straight at Pond who ensured his side picked up their first home win of the term.
