Organisers of a walking cricket group in Burntwood are hoping more players will be bowled over by the activity.

The slower, indoor format of the game is played at Burntwood Leisure Centre between 3.30pm and 5pm on Thursdays.

Aimed at older men and women, the sessions are designed to help participants stay active and meet new people.

Jamie Dodd, Lichfield District Council’s health and wellbeing activator, said: “We started the sessions in November and they’re going well, with participants enjoying playing the game they love at a slower pace.

“We now want more people to get involved so that new people can be a part of it and so we can get a team together.”

Sessions cost £2.50 a time and there’s no need to book ahead. For more details visit www.activelichfield.co.uk.

I was quite interested until I saw that LDC have a Health and Wellbeing Activator. Sounds bloody painful

Malcom I too was interested when it was first mooted. They said it was for 50+ but the times are from 3.30 til 5pm. Now I know times are hard but I would say most 50+ are out earning a crust at those times. Not really well thought through in my mind, not if they really want to tap in to that age group. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.
