Rail chiefs say they’re ready to keep trains moving during cold snap

Rail bosses say they’re ready to deal with the cold snap and keep trains moving through stations in Lichfield.

Network Rail say six snow ploughs and eight de-icing trains are ready to keep tracks clear as Britain braces itself for wintry weather.

Routes such as the West Coast Main Line through Lichfield Trent Valley could be affected, but Phil James, head of operations for Network Rail, said they were prepared for the cold to bite.

“Careful planning for the winter months means we have measures in place to help keep trains and passengers moving during cold snaps,” he said.

“Our fleet of trains and dedicated teams will help clear ice and snow and deal with rail issues should they arise.

““To be prepared, I would urge passengers to always plan their journeys and check before they travel for the latest information.”

More details on delays will be available via www.nationalrail.co.uk.
