Households in Lichfield and Burntwood are being asked to put their bins out earlier.

Residents will need to make sure their rubbish is out for collection by 6.30am from 25th February.

Bins currently have to be out by 7am.

The change is being proposed to allow for earlier starts and to avoid peak traffic. It would also see rounds finish by 3.30pm.

Cllr David Leytham, Lichfield District Council’s Cabinet member for operational services, leisure and waste, said: “We’ve moved the start of our bin rounds forward by 30 minutes as our crews are getting stuck in traffic and have more homes to collect from as housing developments are built.

“Even if your bins are emptied later in the day, please make sure they are out by 6.30am as we may change our rounds when we’ve worked out the best routes.

“I’d like to thank everyone in advance for their help with this, however, as many bins go out the night before, most households shouldn’t notice the change.”
