Lichfield City FC moved within two points of the summit with a resounding win over Uttoxeter Town.
Jamie Hawkins’ men closed the gap on Midland Football League Division One leaders Heather St Johns who saw their game with Cadbury Athletic postponed.
The table-toppers have a game in hand, but the win for City will put the pressure firmly back in the frontrunners’ court.
Lichfield got themselves off to a strong start and netted with their first attack when neat build up play allowed Drew Aiton to net.
The lead was doubled when Dan McLeod’s free-kick found James Taylor who netted his 22nd goal of the season.
City didn’t take their foot off the gas in the second period as Aiton’s delivery found the head of Joe Hartshorne who made no mistake.
A dominant performance was sealed when Aiton volleyed home inside the box to make it 4-0.
Uttoxeter grabbed a late consolation goal from Jack Derbyshire, but it couldn’t take the gloss off another fine Lichfield performance.
