A man has been left with head injuries after what police say was an “unprovoked attack” in Lichfield city centre.

The incident happened just after 3am on Sunday morning (17th February).

The 21-year-old was punched to the face causing him to fall over backwards, banging his head on the ground.

His attackers are described as a white male, 6ft 2ins tall, of stocky build, with brown hair which appears to be shaved at the back and sides and wearing a blue, black and white checked shirt.

The second man is described as shorter and slimmer than the other, with short dark hair also shaved at the back and sides and wearing a blue, black and white checked shirt.

Detective Constable Scott Martin, of Staffordshire Police, said: “We’re appealing for anyone with information to come forward and help us.

“This was a serious and unprovoked assault and we know there were lots of people about at that time who may have seen something.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact Staffordshire Police on 101 referring to incident 106 of February 17 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

This is what happens when you have idiot-magnets like Walkabout, The Scales and Le Reve open until 3/4am. Lichfield becomes a totally different place at the weekend and not in a good way. Quite simply, if these places were shut down that would get rid of the problem.
