Chasetown FC returned from a midweek trip to Glossop North End with a maximum three point haul.

But it was the hosts who took the lead after eight minutes in bizarre circumstances. Mason Duffy’s shot from long range squirmed under the grasp of Dave Parton and into the net.

Chasetown equalised on the half hour though. Within a minute of coming on as substitute, George Cater fired goalwards and keeper Matt Holmes seemed to leave the effort to go wide but the ball struck the inside of the post and went over the line.

The Scholars turned the game on its head and took the lead with a long range effort from leading goalscorer Jack Langston that looped over Holmes.

Chasetown were reduced to ten men in the 71st minute with James Askey saw red.

The hosts were then reduced to ten men themselves for an overly aggressive challenge by Moussa Samassa.

Chasetown had further chances to add to the goals but deserves the points.
