Time is running out for residents to vote in district and parish council elections in Lichfield and Burntwood.

Voters will go to the polls on 2nd May to elect their new representatives.

People must be registered by 12th April in order to cast their vote.

Those who have just turned 18, have moved house or changed their name recently could miss out on a vote if they don’t register.

People can register using their National Insurance number at www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or by calling 01543 308125.

Residents can also apply for a postal vote before 5pm on 15th April.

The first batch of postal vote packs will be delivered around 10th April. New postal vote applications received after 5pm today (3rd April) will be delivered around 23rd April.

Diane Tilley, Electoral Registration Officer for Lichfield District, said: “We don’t want anyone to miss out on the chance to have their say in the local elections, which is why it’s really important to make sure you are available on 2nd May to place your vote, or to organise a postal or proxy vote if you can’t make it to your local polling station.”

Lichfield District residents can find out how to apply for a postal vote or a proxy vote online at www.lichfielddc.gov.uk/elections.
