A Lichfield schoolgirl is celebrating after taking part in the World Irish Dancing Championships.
Heidi Hawkes travelled to North Carolina in the USA for the competition.
And the 10-year-old finished 24th out of more than 150 dancers who had qualified from places as far afield as Australia.
The St Joseph’s RC Primary School pupil said: “It was great to dance on the worlds stage in America.
“There were so many great dancers, so to come 24th in the world in my first year being able to compete at them is brilliant.”
Heidi said she is now setting get sights on more success.
“I’ve been Midlands Regional Champion for the last two years,” she said. “So I’ll be trying to win a third time at the end of the year so I can qualify for the next world championships.
“But there’s lots of competitions before then, so I’ll enjoy taking part in those too.”
