Political leaders urge Lichfield and Burntwood residents to make sure they vote in local elections

Political leaders in Lichfield and Burntwood have come together to urge people to make sure they use their vote.

The appeal from Conservative Michael Wilcox, Labour’s Sue Woodward and Lib Dem Paul Ray comes ahead of local elections on 2nd May.

In a joint statement they said: “These elections take place every four years, and this is your opportunity to elect local councillors to represent you on Lichfield District Council.

“There are also city and parish elections on the same day.

“We cannot influence or take responsibility for the national political issues, but what we can do is ensure that locally we deliver the statutory and other services that you all expect and we will all strive to continue to do that at a local level.

“So please spare a few minutes to consider who you want to run your Council for the next four years and go along to your local polling station and cast your vote.”

Every four years? Not one of those “once in a lifetime” voting opportunities then.
