Some residents in Lichfield are being reminded that they won’t be voting in the local elections tomorrow (2nd May).
Although people will have received polling cards, uncontested seats in certain wards mean polling stations won’t be open.
There are four wards where district and parish council seats are uncontested, including Bourne Vale, Little Aston and Stonnall, Longdon, and Whittington and Streethay.
A Lichfield District Council spokesperson added: “There are also areas where either the district or parish seat is uncontested, so voters in certain areas will be able to vote in some of the elections.
“If the parish council and district council seats where you live were both uncontested, a polling station will not be opened.”
In total, 17 polling stations will not be open:
- St Peter’s Church on Drayton Lane
- Quinney Hall on London Road
- Hints Village Hall on School Lane
- Shenstone Wood End (mobile) on Birmingham Road
- Regimental Museum off Tamworth Road
- The Old Schoolhouse Restaurant on Church Hill
- Little Aston Village Hall on Little Aston Lane
- Stonnall Youth & Community Centre on Main Street
- Elmhurst Mission Church on Fox Lane
- Farewell & Chorley Village Hall on Shute Hill
- Gentleshaw Primary Academy on Darlings Lane
- St James C of E Primary Academy on Brook End
- Streethay (mobile) on land at Bexmore Drive in Streethay
- Elford Village Hall on Church Road
- Whittington Village Hall on Langton Crescent
- Thomas Barnes C.P. School, School Lane in Hopwas
- Wigginton Church Hall in Comberford
The council spokesperson added: “If one of these locations are listed on your poll card as your polling station, you will not need to vote in the parish and district elections.
“You will also not receive a postal vote if you have registered for one and live in one of the uncontested district and parish wards.”
