A Burntwood girls football team is celebrating after coming third in a national championship.
The Fulfen Primary School squad of 10-12 year olds were taking part in the UK stage of the Danone Nations Cup.
The competition began for the team when they won the Lichfield and District title before being crowned county champions at St George’s Park.
They then headed for the regional finals at Nottingham University where there was more success as they took the Central Area title.
And their journey continued when they finished third in the next stage of the tournament at Birmingham City’s St Andrews ground.
Coach Steph Morton said: “We are proud of the girls finishing third.
“This is incredibly impressive considering there are more than 20,000 primary schools in the UK.
“Well done to the Fulfen footballers.”
