A group of young cubs from Lichfield have sailed off on a Viking-themed adventure to Dublin after a donation from a housebuilder.

The Viking Splash Tour will see them join 120 other children after a fundraising campaign that was boosted by a £1,000 donation from Miller Homes.

Tammy Jackson, Cub Leader with 1st Armitage Scouts, visited the company’s Roman Heights development in Streethay to collect the donation along with the Cubs before their trip.

She said: “I think I speak for all of us when I say how pleased we are with this donation.

“Trips like this are so beneficial for the children, not only because they’re fun, but they help build vital social skills and life experience too.

“Naturally, a fun trip away doesn’t come for free and though we did raise an amount of funds ourselves, we wouldn’t have been able to give all of our members the opportunity to go if we didn’t receive the extra financial help.

“Our group proudly wore Miller Homes branded hoodies to keep them warm on the trip, and we’ll be sure to share some snaps of the adventure with the team.”

The Viking Splash event features tour the city of Dublin by land and water.

Based at a campsite, they hiked with a local guide to learn more about the Viking points of interest, and completed a themed treasure hunt around the city.

Katherine Coe, marketing manager of Miller Homes Midlands, added: “We’re always happy to help out with the local community that surround the neighbourhoods we build, and it’s a key part of our work at Miller Homes.

“We’re thrilled that were able to support the cubs on this very special trip and hope the group made lots of memories to treasure.”
