A scheme set up in memory of a Burntwood fundraiser to support young people in the town is open for applications.
The 2019 Stephen Sutton Bursary Award is handed out by Burntwood Town Council.
It is aimed at talented young people who live within the boundaries of the town and is split into two age bands – 11-14 years and 15-19 years. Up to £1,000 is available in each age category.
Cllr Di Evans, chairman of the council, said: “Stephen was a very ambitious and remarkable person with great aspirations and talents, and today we have numerous young people in Burntwood who have their own ideals.
“The town council realises how much it can cost to develop skills and so this is an opportunity for any young and talented person, in any field, to apply for this bursary award, which will hopefully help them towards achieving the success they deserve.”
The scheme is designed to help support opportunities to develop talents further in areas such as specialist equipment or clothing, coaching costs, competition fees and travel costs.
The deadline for applications is 6th September. Full details and the application form can be collected from the The Old Mining College Centre on Queen Street, or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
