A local councillor has hailed residents for turning out to support the Burntwood Wakes.

The event took place at Burntwood Leisure Centre last weekend with the weather and a range of free attractions on offer.

Around 5,000 people turned up to enjoy the fun, up significantly on the previous year.

Councillor Darren Ennis, chairman of the community and partnerships committee at Burntwood Town Council, said: “There was a real buzz on the day and the feedback to me was all very positive.

“Burntwood is a great community and people of all ages came together to celebrate our history, our present and our future opportunities.”
