Chasetown FC suffered a defeat as they got their pre-season up and running, going down 3-1 at Abbey Hulton.

The Scholars were slow out of the traps and found themselves three goals adrift before 15 minutes were on the clock.

Abbey Hulton even had one disallowed as they threatened to run riot.

But the Scholars eventually found their feat, with James Askey heading home their only goal of the game just before half-time.

Meanwhile, The Scholars have boosted their ranks ahead of the new season with a number of signings.

Alex Melbourne returns having previously had a brief spell with the club, while left back Alex Curtis has signed from Sutton Coldfield.

Chasetown boss Scott Dundas has also recruited left-sided player Ricky Bridge and centre forward Luke Askey.
