Thrill-seekers are being advised to turn up early for a special treat at a steam funfair in Lichfield this weekend.
Carters Steam Fair returns to Beacon Park on Saturday and Sunday (20th and 21st July).
Although the attractions will open at 12noon, on the first day the Lightning Skid ride will be operating 30 minutes early – and on its fastest speed.
The steam funfair will also feature a free fireworks display on Saturday night.
A spokesperson said: “This is a chance to travel back in time to a real fairground with original hand-painted rides dating from the 1890s to the 1960s.
“There are lots of rides and games for the little ones – it is an unforgettable day out.”
One of Lichfield’s most famous sons could soon be behind bars.
Showman Joby Carter will also be offering the chance to join him for a tour of the funfair an hour before it opens on Sunday.
The spokesperson added: “This is your chance to see the fair up close, hear about the history of the rides and how we have restored them using traditional techniques and styles.”
