A grant funding scheme supporting organisations in Burntwood is opening for applications.

Burntwood Town Council is running the scheme and is looking to support groups which provide a service to the local community or enhance the image and identity of the area.

Last year saw more than 40 organisations benefit.

Among the recipients last year were the Friends of Burntwood Library. Susan Williams, from the group, said: “A small grant from Burntwood Town Council helped us develop and be successful in our little group of volunteers.

“It has helped us to continue to support and provide benefits for our local community.”

Applications will be accepted between 22nd July and 7th October.

Councillor Di Evans, Chairman of the town council, said: “We are pleased to offer the opportunity to organisations within Burntwood to apply for financial support through the Grant Aid scheme.

“We believe that it is important to encourage the development and success of groups who work hard to ensure that we are moving towards a better Burntwood for all residents.”

The scheme provides start-up grants for new organisations as well as grants to groups already operating. Applications are not accepted from individuals.
