Lichfield City FC maintained their 100% start to the season with a 4-3 win at NKF Burbage.

The result means Jay Hawkins’ men are one of four sides in the Midland Football League Division One who have yet to drop a point in the league.

Kyle Patterson was the first to have a chance for City wafter a neat turn in the box as the visitors forced a number of early corners.

It was from one of these set pieces that they made the breakthrough as Luke Childs netted direct from a corner on 10 minutes.

Lichfield were enjoying joy from corners and another yielded a second goal as Jordan Evans nodded home at the back post with just 20 minutes on the clock.

But any hopes of an easy afternoon were dashed when NKF Burbage hit back just before the half-hour mark.

City got the ideal start to the second period with a penalty after Brad Rolston was hauled down and James Taylor netted from the resulting spot kick 10 minutes after the restart.

As the clock ticked past the hour mark the home side again reduced the deficit to one goal from a corner, before a penalty of their own saw them level the game.

But the drama from 12 yards was far from over as Lichfield won their second spot kick of the game, which Taylor duly converted to seal the three points and keep City’s unblemished record intact.
