Gym Unity has submitted a planning application for Unit 7a at The Stirling Centre.

A spokesperson for the company said the expansion was needed to keep up with demand.

“We have been training in this location for over 10 years,” they said in a statement.

“We are keen to add unit 7a to keep up with the ever growing population in Fradley and the surrounding areas.

“Almost 1,000 new homes have been built since we opened, with more being built.

“The unit has been unoccupied since completion in 2009 which we believe shows it is not suitable nor in demand as a retail space.”

The company hopes to make the empty unit into an aerobic studio.

“We would like to add this area to our gym in order to run exercise classes for all ages, shapes and sizes,” the spokesperson added.

Full details of the application are available on Lichfield District Council’s planning website.
