A resident at a Lichfield care home has had her wish granted after getting to ride on a Harley Davidson.

Ann, who lives at The Spires centre, had told staff members how she had always dreamed of riding one of the famous motorbikes.

The conversations led to Carrie Jahn, home services advisor at The Spires, liaising with Jane Dayus-Hinch from the Townswomen’s Guild. Together the pair arranged for Ann to hit the open road aboard a Harley.

As well as riding as a passenger on a trike version of the iconic bike, Ann was also accompanied by a convoy of seven other bikers.

Ann, who was waved off by friends and families as she hit the road, said: “It was scary and I was a little nervous at first but I loved it once I was more confident.

“It was also very windy – and I forgot to put my visor down!”

Ann’s family have made a donation to the Teenage Cancer Trust in memory of Stephen Sutton as a thank you to the riders who made her dream a reality.

Fran Sharp, general manager of The Spires, said: “It was wonderful that with the amazing help of the bikers we could make this wish come true for Ann.

“We aim now to talk to all our residents and see what other wishes we can make happen.”
