Lichfield City FC’s league cup journey was a short one as they went out to Hinckley.

Jay Hawkins’ men fell behind early on when the visitors netted from a corner through Kyron Green.

Luke Childs sent an effort wide of the target as Lichfield looked to hit back.

City had the ball in the net when Joel Powell tucked home a rebound, only for the offside flag to deny him.

Adam Jenkins made an early save in the second half to prevent Hinckley from extending their advantage.

But another goal did arrive for the visitors with an effort from outside the box by Dimitri Dunkley on 72 minutes.

And the game went further away from City when Isaac Cooper netted three minutes later.

Lichfield didn’t fold though, with James Taylor firing past the keeper to give his side hope.

A goal from sub Kienan Palmer led to late hope, but it wasn’t to be as City failed to find an elusive leveller.
