Users of a Lichfield day centre have been given a surprise day out.
The group travelled from Lichfield to Birmingham for the day after the trip was organised by Business Improvement District (BID) support officer Brendon Stewart with the help of West Midlands Railway’s community manager Fay Easton.
The group were from Minster Hall, the Lichfield day centre of Sherratts Wood CIC, a non-profit community interest company, which provides care and activities for adults living with learning difficulties, disabilities and support needs.
Corrine Till, a member of the care staff from Minster Hall, said: “All of our service users were very excited about the train journey when they found out.
“For some of them it has been their first outing to Birmingham, and was a very pleasant experience for us all.”
BID support officer Brendon said: “I know the staff there do an incredible job to keep the users at the centre happy and safe, and I understand they would like to do more but are restricted by budget.
“I saw an opportunity to provide something, not just for all the guys at the centre who love days out, but also for the staff there to enjoy themselves too on a day out doing the job they enjoy.”
