A group of Lichfield teenagers are celebrating after being chosen for a national hockey training scheme.
The group have trained together at Lichfield Hockey Club for a number of years.
And now they will move on to the England Hockey Elite Pathway Performance Programme after Isabelle Astoin, Jenna Langley, Harvey Hughes and Seb Fisher joined the U15 Midlands Regional Performance Centres.
The call-ups, continued with Lily Upton chosen for the U17 Girls Midlands Regional Performance Centre, and Sophie Hughes selected for the National Age Group Programme – the highest honour for a junior hockey player.
The players will now be coached by some of the country’s leading figures, as well as getting advice on nutrition and exercise.
Dave Willenbruch, chair of Lichfield Hockey Club said: “I’m delighted for everyone.
“I remember seeing them play at our Sunday morning junior sessions many years ago. Seb, Harvey, Lily, Sophie, Isabelle and Jenna should be very proud of their achievements.
“We’ve had lots of success at all junior levels over the years, the club has an excellent track record of producing excellent hockey players for club, county and country.
“All started playing at our thriving Sunday morning junior session which attracts hundreds of children every week.”
