The closure and subsequent decision to save Friary Grange Leisure Centre has been as short as it has been filled with highs and lows.
Lichfield District Council initially outlined plans in July to shut the city’s last remaining leisure centre in April 2020.
But the decision met with a public backlash which ultimately resulted in a councillor standing down from his role as a school governor, a Cabinet meeting held on a theatre stage and a decision to recommend the council keeps the centre open while a new one is built.
