Lichfield Musical Youth Theatre is set to fill the cathedral with the best sounds from movie musicals.
The award-winning company is back with a vital fundraiser – a very special concert production running for three performances only.
This semi-staged concert will not only include songs from the latest movie musicals, including The Greatest Showman, Moana, La La Land and A Star is Born, but it will also be combined with the classics like Mary Poppins, Singing in the Rain, Funny Girl and West Side Story – plus Moulin Rouge, The Lion King, Hairspray and Dreamgirls thrown in for good measure.
Musical Director Oliver Rowe said: “There will be a cast of over 50 performers – our biggest yet – all singing, all dancing their way through the best movie musical songs we could find.”
Choreography is in the capable hands of Jess Lambert, with musicians and technical teams supporting the performances.
Oliver said: “Those that know Lichfield Musical Youth Theatre really well, and who have supported us over the past 34 years, will know that we are only funded by our ticket sales.
“This concert will help us raise vital funds to help us keep on producing the first-rate musical theatre shows we have put on in the past well into our 35th year next year.
“We can’t thank our loyal audiences enough, and we are really excited to share with them the very best of movie musicals.”
The show is on 18th and 19th October at 7.30pm, with a Saturday matinee at 2pm. For ticket details visit www.lmyt.eventbrite.co.uk.
