Work has begun on a £1.2million expansion at a Lichfield nursery.

Humpty Dumpty Day Nursery is having a two-storey extension built, which will include a new kitchen area.

The company provides full day care for children from six-weeks-old to school age.

Philip Siddell, director at Humpty Dumpty Day Nursery, said: “We have been at the forefront of childcare provision for the past 32 years and this project will significantly enhance our capacity and capability, ensuring we stay at the cutting edge of early years education well into the future.

“Right from the start staff from contractor Novus recognised the need to carry out the project with as little disruption to children, parents and staff as possible and they are delivering this to the highest standards.

“We’re very much looking forward to seeing the finished project.”

The work is being carried out over a 36-week period.

Dean Povey, operations manager at Novus, said: “This project will help ensure the nursery can continue to provide outstanding education facilities for Lichfield’s future generations.”
