The wait could go on for Chasetown FC to return to action despite approval being given for fans to return to some fixtures in Tier 3 areas.

The Football Association received the green light from the Government for a limited return of home spectators to clubs in the National League System and the FA Vase.

But a statement from the Isthmian, Northern Premier and Southern leagues has said no fixtures will go ahead until the review of coronavirus tiers had taken place this week.

“The leagues welcome the decision to allow some fans into grounds situated in Tier 3 areas.

“However, in light of the decision of all 224 clubs only last week to vote overwhelmingly in favour of suspending the current season, the leagues have decided to wait to see the implications of the Government’s review of the Tier system in England before making any further announcements.”

At present, Chasetown’s fixtures have been postponed until at least the 19th December.

The Government is due to review whether or not Staffordshire will remain in Tier 3 measures on 16th December.
