A Lichfield restaurant has marked the opening of a new outdoor dining and drinks area with the launch of a new alfresco menu.

The Boat Inn has renovated a garden area where people can enjoy food and drink without a reservation.
The two-acre outdoor space includes fields, a greenhouse that produces vegetables and herbs, and a chicken coop for eggs used by restaurant’s chefs.
Owner Liam Dillon said:
“With the better weather and warmer evenings upon us, this space is perfect not just for casual dining but also drinks.
“When the Covid lockdowns hit we came up with the idea of enhancing our offer by using our outdoor space.
“We have a huge garden behind the restaurant and so it was the obvious area to develop and to offer our customers a different experience.
“And it’s a working garden. We grow a lot of our produce in the greenhouses which guests are welcome to view.
“It’s got the relaxed feel of a pub beer garden with a special menu and I and the team are looking forward to serving people.”
