The ribbon has officially been cut on a community-led tennis and netball facility in Lichfield.

Beacon Park Tennis began life in 2016 when a group set out to save and improve the courts in the city park.

They have since gone on to raise £200,000 to help lease the venue and make improvements to the site to safeguard it for the community.

The Covid pandemic meant an opening ceremony was delayed, but members finally cut the ribbon last weekend.

A spokesperson said:

“Since we reopened in August 2020, thousands of people of all ages have enjoyed playing tennis and netball in Beacon Park.

“Volunteers have made this happen and we say thank you to them all.”
