Young readers from a local school were invited to be among the first visitors to a new bookshop in Lichfield.

The students from Henry Chadwick Primary School in Hill Ridware were invited to take a look around the new Market Street branch of Waterstones as it welcomed customers for the first time today (20th May).

A spokesperson for the school said:.

“They perused a fantastic selection of children’s books before choosing some to update their classroom libraries.

“The children enjoyed sharing their love of books with the friendly, knowledgable and enthusiastic staff.

“The visit has certainly instigated lots of book talk in and around school and the children can’t wait to return.

“It’s wonderful that parents and carers now have this brilliant bookshop in the town centre, to visit, to share the array of books on offer and to instil a love of books.”

  1. I didn’t realise a primary school in Hill Ridware was local to Lichfield. There must be at least half a dozen primary schools in Lichfield thst could have been invited. What happened?
