Council officials say steps are currently being taken to remove travellers from land in Lichfield.

The group of caravans moved on to parkland between Curborough Road and Dimbles Lane opposite Stychbrook Park yesterday (25th May).

But a Lichfield District Council spokesperson told Lichfield Live a Section 77 notice would be served tomorrow and a court order would be sought to ensure their eviction from the site.

Cllr Andy Smith, cabinet member for leisure, said:

“Following reports that travellers were occupying land at Curborough Road we took immediate action, in conjunction with the police, to see that they are removed.

“We work hard to ensure that our parks and open spaces remain available and safe for use by the general public.

“We wish to thank Lichfield police for their assistance in this matter.”

  1. From the Local Plan:
Deliver a minimum of 7 residential pitches to meet the identified needs of gypsies and travellers to 2040 including meeting the identified need for 4 of these pitches by 2024.
So now only two years to go….
