No political parties mentioned on the LDC website either. Were all three of them standing as independents?
Cllr Cross is a Conservative, I’m not sure about the other two.
@Bob hole, the issue is that this was an election for Fradley, and Cllr Cross was the only person who lived in Fradley that stood. The other two candidates (3 stood for 2 councillor places) live in Streethay and made (as far as I know as a Fradley resident) zero effort to contact people in Fradley and campaign. Cllr Cross was the only person who dropped leaflets through doors. Nobody I spoke to in Fradley and on the various Facebook groups knew anything about the other two candidates. Despite that Cllr Cross only achieved 35% of the vote, meaning 65% of Fradley’s voters still did not vote for him, which tells you everything. He was elected on a 12 vote margin. Just goes to show if Fradley could get some other decent local candidates who engaged with them to stand Cllr Cross would easily be voted out.
In my view Cllr Cross has supported development in Fradley for too long (hence the never ending building there). The sooner he is gone the better.
@Asellus aquaticus… My understanding is that parish councils operate on a none affiliated basis so they would all be elected as independent.
21% turnout and 12 spoilt ballot papers – you reap what you sow.
Congratulations on your re-election
Simon, I have never supported all this development in Fradley, where did you get that idea from? Your reading and believing too much of what the handful of keyboard warriors write on FB.
Read my representations to the Government Inspector against the ongoing house building in Fradley. The decisions are made by LDC planning officers and or LDC planning committee not myself, and I have only been on the planning committee for a year whereas most of the housing development was planned and started several years before me starting with Fradley South over 20 years ago. The reason the voters turn out was so poor was because they are fed up with the Parish Council and the fact that several
good parish councillors who live in Fradley have resigned because they are fed up with the way it’s currently being run, and the mess the village is becoming due to a lack of proper maintenance and management.
