Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to after a money was taken from an elderly couple in Lichfield.

They were in Morrisons on 21st April when they were approached by someone claiming to be a former neighbour.

He then convinced the elderly couple to drive him back to their home on Beacon Street where he stole a purse containing bank cards and cash.

A Staffordshire Police spokesperson said they hoped the image would help their investigation:

“It is believed the suspect used the stolen card to purchase a mobile phone top-up in Lichfield.

“The victims were left shaken but unhurt.

“The suspect is described as Asian, roughly early 40s, approximately 6ft tall with a balding head. He was wearing a brown or dark-coloured jacket.

Police are currently conducting enquiries locally and would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the suspect approach an elderly couple in the supermarket.”
