A Lichfield school is to get some green-fingered support after winning a community contest organised by a local garden centre.

Saxon Hill Academy has been selected in the Helping Your Community Grow project by Shenstone-based Dobbies.

It will mean the school – which has pupils with physical and additional needs – receives gardening resources to brighten up their green space in a sustainable way.

There will also be support and expertise to help older students grow seeds in the school’s polytunnel.

Wendy Arnfield, community co-ordinator at Saxon Hill Academy, said:

“We’re thrilled to have won Dobbies’ Helping Your Community Grow initiative and are looking forward to bringing our project to life.

“We’re really grateful for everyone’s support in getting us to this point and excited for what’s to come.”
