The Queen's Baton
The Queen's Baton

People are being asked to volunteer to help the Queen’s Baton Relay head through Lichfield and Burntwood safely.

The local leg on 20th July will see the baton travel from the National Memorial Arboretum to Chasewater via Kings Bromley and Lichfield.

It will then travel on through the Midlands to Birmingham in time for the start of the Commonwealth Games on 28th July.

Volunteer route marshals are being sought to help ensure the procession can travel safely through local streets with people watching at the roadside.

Cllr Doug Pullen, leader of Lichfield District Council, said:

“We hope hear from residents who would like to help marshal the Queen’s Baton Relay next month.

“This is an opportunity to be part of an exciting event. It will be fantastic seeing the baton pass from bearer to bearer as it progresses through the district and volunteer route marshals will help make it a day to remember.”

Cllr Doug Pullen, Lichfield District Council

People can register as a route marshal online.
