The National Memorial Arboretum is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors for Armed Forces Day celebrations this weekend.

The Alrewas centre for remembrance will host the event today (25th June) and tomorrow.

Free activities such as forklift basketball, Segways, a Red Arrows simulator and a World War Two-style assault course will be on offer.

A service of tribute will also take place.

Mark Ellis, interim lead at the arboretum, said:

“Armed Forces Day is the nation’s chance to show support for the UK’s armed forces community, from serving troops to service families, veterans and cadets.

“Here at the arboretum, we’ll once again be marking the event with fun family activities, a service of thanks and food and craft stalls throughout the weekend.”
