Plans for a new drive-thru coffee shop in Burntwood have been approved.
Operated by Starbucks, the development would sit on land currently forming part of the so-called blue hoardings site off Milestone Way.
It would sit alongside an area earmarked for the previously approved KFC outlet.
As well as the building itself, plans have also been approved for illuminated signs for the new coffee shop.
A planning statement said:
“Given the nature of the proposed use, the principle of the proposed development in the town centre location would be acceptable. It would assist with the regeneration of the area and help to meet the needs of the growing residential population.
“The proposals will reuse part of a vacant brownfield site which has been identified for development for many years and will claw back significant expenditure to Burntwood which is currently being spent outside the area.”

Do we really need more fast food outlets
Woo Hoo … I drive miles for a Starbucks!!!
Burntwood does not want or need another coffee shop chain. We have McDonald’s and Costa. We also have many wonderful independent cafes. What we need are actual shops, somewhere to buy a pair of pants from without having to travel out of the area to do so. LDC need to actually speak to those of us who live there.
We need retail and leisure facilities. What happened to the promised Cinema and bowling ally?
Time for us Burntwood folks to band together and stop paying our council tax, until they listen to US. What they going to do, prosecute us all.
We don’t need coffee shops we need more retail shops or bowling allay
Ridiculous! who actually makes these decisions? As they need their head looking at. why can’t they take the initiative for once and actually ask Burntwood residents what is wanted and most importantly needed in our own town, its not rocket science, is it? LDC have already tried to make Burntwood into the biggest housing estate in the area, now its trying to slowly turn Burntwood into the take away capital of the UK…
We need more shops in burntwood and the old pub at sankeys Haveing something done to it. Litchfield council need to pay a visit and speak to people that actually live here.
I’m not particularly in favour of this but it’s definitely preferable to more housing. I would prefer more retail or at least a decent alternative to Aldi and Morrisons both of which are quite depressing shopping experiences. How about a Waitrose or M&S Food… or even a Sainsburys?
LDC does not care a jot about what local residents need or want and never have. We have always been the poor relations. Countless promises have been made and broken. Having said that, Lichfield’s shopping facilities are increasingly depleted. Shops in the precinct closing and remaining empty, Debenhams gone, all that remains are hairdressers, charity shops and estate agents. For any serious shopping one has to drive to Tamworth. We have more and more housing, fewer and fewer facilities.
More trash to be thrown out of car windows
Have a look in the lanes around Wall to see rubbish from the drive through McDonald even after superhuman efforts by the legends, this is what you have to come
Councillors get a grip!! We don’t need coffee shops we don’t need fast food drive through!! We need anew retail park with a cinema, bowling alley, shoe and clothing shops. I don’t know what your thinking!! This has been going on for decades…
How’s about the Refurb of our so called “ Town Centre”
It is and has been for decades a total Eyesore.
The Old “ Bill Stickers” has been empty for years. What is happening about the so called Social Centre, that was fleetingly mentioned Months ago,
