By now we all know what to expect from a King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys concert – a stalwart act in the local music scene, with a many-decade career, their act has been honed from years spent on stages around the world.
The sharp-suited group treated their lively, sizeable audience to two hours of action-packed music.
Exemplary creativity, inventive era-correct soloing and a groove that just kept going, the six-piece showed their outstanding musical skills throughout the concert.
Led by King Pleasure on baritone saxophone and vocals, the rest of the lineup featured John Taylor on saxophone, with keyboard, drums and guitar and the comedy antics of double bass player Shark Van Schtoop adding to their unmistakable brand of anarchy.
They started with a medley of Every Day I Have The Blues, Well Alright and Moving to Chicago. The saxophone solos and duets, as well as some inventive guitar and keyboard solos, showed what the band intended to deliver.
As well as the feel-good jump and jive there was also some time for two instrumental favourites, Baby Elephant Walk and Tequila being particularly well delivered.
If you want a night of feel-good jump, jive and blues King Pleasure and the Biscuit Boys will be the band to deliver that – as the thousands of people who have seen them live will testify.
