The chair of Lichfield District Council has revealed why he decided to quit the Conservative group.
Cllr Derick Cross’ decision to switch to become an independent member was confirmed on the local authority’s website yesterday (2nd October).
He has now told Lichfield Live that, while he is “unable” to go into the full details at the current time, his reasons were due to issues with the party locally.
“I have found the Lichfield Conservative Party and its leadership to be constraining.”
Cllr Derick Cross, Lichfield District Council
His decision means the controlling Tory group has seen its numbers reduced to 22 of the 47 seats.
