Plans for a new dog walking facility on land in Lichfield have been approved.
The development is earmarked for a plot off Cranebrook Lane near Muckley Corner.
The approved proposals will also see the construction of two weather shelters, boundary fencing and car parking facilities.
A planning statement said:
“This proposal provides for the change of use of the land to provide for a private dog walking facility wherein individual clients will be invited to book specific timeslots 55 minutes apart in order to enable them to walk sensitive dogs without distraction from other canines.
“Access will only be permitted by electronic fobs or other such secure devices.
“The site will be split into two separate secure fields such that no more than two owners will be in attendance at the site at any one time allowing for turnovers. Hence the need for no more than six car parking space.
“The site will operate during normal daytime hours only, broadly from 8am to 4pm October to March and 6am to 9pm April to September.”

Have you ever heard of such a waste of money as this? First, we have to endure smelly animals in our cafes, restaurants and pubs (on the chairs I might add) now two of them get their own walking space at our expense! 🤣
Really??
Of all the things we could spend valuable resources on and we focus on I’ll behaved, or ‘ sensitive ‘ dogs!
Seriously?
Citizen Smith, what are you on about, at our expense? This is a private company getting planning permission for their business. Unless you’re a shareholder this isn’t anything that will cost you anything.
Presumably this will be a paid for enterprise. Dogs need daily exercise. Will you drive there every day for that purpose? Would you pay twice if you have two dogs?
Sounds a barking idea to me.
Some people in Lichfield are so miserable! There are numerous local secure dog walking fields in the area; Whittington, Alrewas and Longdon to name just three. It seems you like to moan when dogs are walked in parks and then you moan when they have a secure area to exercise. It’s best you keep your blinkers and slippers on.
Citizen Smith, it’s a private enterprise run for profit on land currently not used for other purposes, it will not cost you anything in fact it will put money into the local economy in the way of planning fees business tax etc. On the subject of “smelly animals in cafes, restaurants etc if you don’t like the idea of sharing your space with these animals and their owners you don’t have to use these establishments, the management of said outlets realise the huge business opportunities lost by excluding these smelly animals (Dogs)?
Just a note for your items to complain about I think there are at least 2 successful such operations in Staffordshire and probably more around the country.
