Creative Whittington residents have given a rotting tree a new lease of life.
A huge Leylandii had to be removed on Main Street, but the home owners decided to ask tree surgeons to leave the bottom ten foot of trunk in place.
North Wales chainsaw carver Simon O’Rourke was then invited to create an artwork from the stump.
The result is a ten-foot high angle with spread wings.
Amazingly beautiful
So talented to be able to create something so beautiful.
There used to be a totem pole with a carving either an owl or eagle by Armitage football club on Kings Bromley Road but it disappeared many years ago, and that was lovely.
Stunning! Well done to the ‘home owners’ for being so innovative.
