Chasetown suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat at Prescot Cables.

A first half goal from a Nathan Koehler header settled an end-to-end encounter.

The hosts three points took them into second place, but they were made to work hard to collect the three points.

Chasetown will be disappointed to come away with nothing for their efforts after Cables keeper Mitchell Allen pulled off a top class save onto his post from a Luke Yates header which seemed destined to level the scores.

After the break, Allen was again called into action as he turned away a Carter Lycett shot at full stretch.

The home keeper then made a low save from a Jack Langston effort, but the ball zipped off the wet surface under the foot of substitute Max Chimenes who seemed likely to get a chance to equalise late on.
