LICHFIELD City picked up a seventh straight win as they beat Wolverhampton Casuals 2-1.

First half goals from Max Dixon and Kieran Francis were enough to secure all three points in the Midland Football League Premier Division clash.

The game saw City open brightly with Dan Lomas and Jack Edwards both testing home keeper Lucas Kibrya.

Lichfield keeper James Beeson also had to be alert at the other end to save well with his legs.

Lomas was again denied by a smart save from Kirby – but there was nothing he could do to deny Dixon has he headed home from a Joe Haines delivery on 19 minutes.

The lead was doubled on the half-hour mark as Haines again crossed and this time it was Francis who connected as his volley slammed into the roof of the net.

The second period saw Haines almost add a goal of his own when his low strike was kept out by Kirby.

Lichfield had a glorious chance to make it 3-0 when James Wilcock was brought down in the box, but Edwards saw his penalty and the rebound saved.

Casuals made the most of the miss as they pulled a goal back almost immediately through Kamren Smith.

A drive over Beeson’s bar showed the hosts fancied their chances of a leveller, but Lichfield continued to look to kill off the game too with Callum Rudd’s strike well saved.

Haines saw his corner cleared off the line, but it didn’t prove pivotal as City closed out the game to secure the win.
