CHASETOWN booked their place in the next round of the Staffordshire Senior Cup with a 5-2 win over Uttoxeter Town.
In a thrilling encounter, The Scholars asserted their dominance early on, taking the lead when Kieran Fenton rose highest to power home a header from an Alfie Taylor corner.
The same names were involved for Chasetown’s second as a Taylor delivery found Mitchell Clarke who flicked on for Fenton to nod home once again.
It was 3-0 ten minutes into the second half when Oli Hayward fired past Xander Parke.
Uttoxeter pulled one back in 62nd minute as Lewis Dawson netted.
But Chasetown restored their three-goal advantage with 15 minutes to go when Taylor slotted past Parke.
It was 4-2 when Dawson pulled another back for Uttoxeter, but it was The Scholars who would have the last say after a penalty was awarded when Kai Cunningham was fouled in the area and Danny O’Callaghan sent the keeper the wrong way to wrap up a 5-2 victory.
Chasetown will now turn their attentions to league action this weekend against Wythenshawe.
