A FUNDRAISING campaign has been launched after damage to facilities run by a community interest company at Chasewater.
Pier 52, which offers watersports such as stand up paddle boarding and cable wakeboarding, saw its reception building torn apart during Storm Darragh over the weekend.
The organisation says that despite trying to prepare for the incoming high winds, the weather had taken its toll.
In a statement, Pier 52 said:
“Unfortunately, for the second year in a row – and despite additional storm bracing – our reception cabin has been ripped apart and our office equipment inside is either in Chasewater or has been water damaged.
“Due to this happening last year, our insurance excess for storm damage makes it unviable to claim.
“As a not for profit company we try to offer safe access to water via the activities we offer as affordable as possible for the local community, schools and groups.”
As well as launching an online fundraising page, the organisation is also appealing to local builders or companies able to help with materials to rebuild the cabin.
