LICHFIELD’S Finlay Lines fought to secure a seventh place finish in the final round of the 2024 HKRC Championship.

Braving very poor conditions at the Cambridgeshire venue, the Synergy Factory driver was up against a strong field in the X30 class.

With a random draw setting the grid for heat one, Lines fought his way forward from 14th place to finish on track in fifth. However, a nose cone penalty post-race, which happened on the rolling-up lap, meant he would drop to seventh.

Starting from pole in the second heat, the Lichfield youngster made a great start and stayed calm during the difficult driving conditions, keeping his head and putting on a masterclass to take the win by nearly five seconds.

With his combined scores putting him to the top of the Intermediate classification, Lines started the final from pole.

But after being pushed off the track during the scramble at the start, he dropped back a number of places, before fighting back to secure a creditable seventh place.
