An Avanti West Coast train and worker

PASSENGERS face months of disruption after train staff confirmed plans for strike action.

The RMT union had called off industrial action on 22nd, 23rd and 29th December after fresh talks with Avanti West Coast in a bid to resolve a row over rest day working.

But it has now confirmed the walkout for Sundays between 12th January and 25th May at the operator, which serves Lichfield Trent Valley.

The union said more than 80% of members had voted against the proposed deal.

A spokesperson for Avanti said:

“This strike action will cause significant disruption to our customers making journeys on the West Coast Main Line.

“We remain open to working with the RMT to resolve the dispute.”
